Has been less active, not getting up on furniture anymore, back legs giving out sometimes. Over the weekend gaawwddd awful breath developed. I took him to the vet this morning, all bloodwork is normal, teeth look okay- tartar but okay.
So we are starting with antibiotics in case an abscess in there causing mouth odor.
If that doesn't help, do an ultrasound.
this could be infection, cancer, tumor, who knows what.
he just had what looked like more of a seizure with front legs and dazedness. he did the back leg thing in the vet's office and the vet thought it looked like petit mal seizure.
poor baby, we put him up on the couch to sit with us. he just turned 11 years old.
i told him it's hell to get old.
not the best of days for us.

hug Sorry the poor guy is having such a rough time of it. Here's hoping the meds take effect quickly & he's feeling more himself soon. Beau just turned 12, hard to believe.

Not much. he's a little perkier, and still having the "spells" 5-6 times a day. he's at the vet, he wanted to see it happen since i haven't been able to capture the spells on my phone video, it doesn't last long.
vet is thinking cardiac, or seizures, or related to his spine- mocha has his back hunched up like something's wrong there. we will see. all his labs were normal.
little guys can't tell you where it hurts.
going to do a chest xray to check heart at least.

Pets and infants hurting are both so scary because neither can tell you what hurts...we just know they are hurting because of their behavior. I hope they figure out the problem sooner rather than later.  hug

chest, spine, and abdomen xrays fine, mouth/teeth fine, belly exam negative. But, Tuesday he had a grand mal seizure. called the vet and got seizure med right away. that night he had a really big 2 minute grand mal with a screech that sounded like an alien. since then, no more grand mals. and what have probably been petit mal seizures have way way decreased. he's still not right, but don't know what is going on in there.
the potassium bromide for seizures makes him sleepy. he eats, drinks, and poops fine.
poor little guy, we just give him a lot of luxury.
